COEX Complex, Convention and Exhibition Center and shopping mall, is one of the most popular and sought-after tourist destinations and also for locals in Seoul, and has grown to hold a landmark status since its opening in 2000. <o:p></o:p>With the increase in the number of international conventions, exhibitions, conferences, and events, the function of this public space had to be redefined, therefore started seeking ideal solutions. Prior to the redevelopment, BAUM CM analyzed direct causes, deterioration of building facilities, emergence of competitors, stagnation of sales, and gradual decrease in number of cinema and aquarium visitors. The redevelopment focused on current market demand and shopping trend, which finally resulted a state-of-the-art, one-stop multi-complex where visitors and tourists enjoy everything from shopping to entertainment, and culture and leisure activities. The feature strength of COEX has been its direct underground access from subway line 2. Later the additional connection to subway line 9 has made the place even more convenient. <o:p></o:p>So far, COEX redevelopment has seen successful outcomes in every corner; contemporary approach to corporate identity and branding of COEX, new MD plans followed by reconfiguration and refurbishment for a variety of retail stores and cultural facilities, which all resulted noticeable profit increase. The newly transformed COEX Complex is now a world-class multi-complex, not only with its high-tech, futuristic space design, but going green with eco-friendly management for future generation.
